Today is a beautiful Saturday morning in Minnesota. The weather is starting to cool off and the sun is shining bright. As I was headed to work this morning there were a lot of yard sales throughout my neighborhood. I was a little envious that I could not grab a nice cup of coffee and join the early risers out on the hunt for some sort of treasure. Kind of sounds like it could be a preview to a new reality show doesn't it? May even be a little more interesting to watch than some of the nonsense that is found on TV these days.
Although it is a beautiful Saturday, and I would not want to ruin that for anyone, my opinion today has to do with reality TV. As I came into work I happened to open the yahoo web page. I like to check the world happenings from their little news ticker and see what has transpired while I was cozy in my bed sleeping all night. I know yahoo is not the best site to do this but, it is what it is. Anyway, on this ticker is yet ANOTHER story about Kim Kardashian. Can someone PLEASE explain to me how this person is so infamous. I say infamous because having a TV show about your life because you had a sex tape does not seem to be a reason to be a "celebrity." I know some people follow her life like she is the next messiah, but honestly, I cannot take hearing about the ludicrous and often idiotic things that come out of that woman's mouth. I know I shouldn't judge because I have never met the woman or her family, but seriously enough is enough. Nowadays shows seem to be made primarily off of the ramblings of these people who seem to share a brain cell. Is it only me who feels like my IQ drops after watching some of these shows? Or is so disgusted about how idiotic these people act and behave all the time and are praised for their stupid behaviors? Then there is this fine line of stupid and outrageous. How can these people get so drunk or whatever where they are seen on their show stumbling around, breaking things and just being stupid... then they are caught by the paparazzi doing the same thing and all of a sudden it is headline news? What am I missing? What don't I get? These individuals whose lives are portrayed to be toal train wrecks, who make mor than I ever could dream of in my entire life apparently have done something right. All I am asking for is shows with substance. If I am going to see the news and I want something interesting in the headline, it needs to be about our nation's heroes and what they do every day. US Soldier gets medal of honor, Peace Corps members impact in Haiti, Minnesota Firemen saved family, Teacher wins outstanding achievement award... not oh another rehab visit for Jersey Shore's _____________ (fill in the blank.) So that is the end of my rant about reality TV nonsense! I know there are some awesome reality shows but when it comes to Honey Boo Boo and her breath sniffing game or the latest foot in the mouth thing from Kim Kardashian, this is one dissatisfied reader.
